J&J Maryland Gala Raises $500,000 to Support Nurses
Monday, October 12, 2009
Johnson & Johnson — in partnership with Gannett Healthcare Group, publishers of Nursing Spectrum, NurseWeek and Nurse.com — delivered on its promise to Maryland nurses by raising more than $500,000 at the Promise of Nursing for Maryland gala Sept. 24 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel. During the pre-dinner reception, GHG displayed its authentic letters that were handwritten by Florence Nightingale in 1861 for the more than 750 attendees. The historic letters were purchased from a private collection.
Nurses were celebrated throughout the evening. J&J signature videos about nurses and their effects on patients were displayed on giant screens on either side of the stage, and others recounted their journeys to become nurses from the podium.
